Ruthie Counter has been a member of the Philo Road Church of Christ (Urbana, Illinois) since 2005. She served as a marketing communication professional in Champaign-Urbana for more than 30 years and has 12 years of experience in public school instruction. In 2025, she retired as director of marketing and public relations at Parkland College in Champaign. She is also a self-published author of Christian books.  

Ruthie and her husband, Brian, have an adult daughter, Megan, and son, David.
